Welcome to the EWTN Family!
August 30, 2021
Thank you for your interest in the EWTN Global Catholic Network. We are so happy that you are here. It’s so good to connect with people who are interested in staying abreast of what’s happening around them and for whom faith is so important.
The EWTN story is one of providence and perseverance. Mother M. Angelica, a cloistered Poor Clare nun, came to Alabama from Ohio to found Our Lady of the Angels Monastery in Irondale in the 1960s. Later, she started printing and widely distributing “mini-books” – short teachings from the Scriptures. As these mini-books and other writings by Mother Angelica grew in popularity, she was sought for speaking engagements, which then turned into radio programs and a video series produced at a local TV station. Before long, Mother Angelica built her own TV studio, the Eternal Word Television Network.
Today, EWTN has expanded well beyond its early offerings. It’s the largest religious medianetwork in the world - extending into satellite radio and television, internet, streaming, an award-winning newspaper, The National Catholic Register, along with multiple news services, and book publishing. Though she's no longer with us, Mother's legacy of love and her steadfast mission continue. The focus throughout all these years of growth has remained the same: to share God's love and mercy with the world and to encourage people in the Catholic faith.
“Unless you are willing to do the ridiculous, God will not do the miraculous. When you have God, you don’t have to know everything about it; you just do it.” - Mother Angelica
Mother Angelica’s remarkable story inspires us every day to share the work that she began, to bring the Eternal Word, Jesus Christ, to the world.
EWTN not only provides a source for trusted programming and content, but also challenges us to examine our personal relationship with God. EWTN helps others grow in the knowledge of, and devotion to, Jesus Christ and His Church.
To that end, we want to make sure you know about our Daily Readings page. Each day features Scripture passages and a video of the day’s Scripture reading given at Mass. It’s a great way to start each day with the Word of God in your heart and mind.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to serve you. We are excited to see our EWTN Family continue to grow and flourish.
